Snowmobile Trail Reports
February 20th, 2012
The weather forecast for the next 10 days is looking very promising! By Wednesday the daytime highs should be back to normal for this time of year and there is snow in the forecast for every single day over the next 10 days!! As of right now trail conditions are in fair to good condition depending on what trail you’re on. Trails south of the lake as well as trails that run near roadways will be in the poorest condition while trails that run north of the lake and back in the woods will have the best conditions. Icy corners are still a concern so slow speeds accordingly.
We may be seeing some logging on Trail 1 South, approximately 5-miles south of the Hwy. 28 & Hwy. 64 junction (approx. 1-mile north of Fishtales) at some point. The weather will dictate just when they will start, so keep an eye out in this area for logging trucks.
We’d like to remind all snowmobilers, again, to please ride only on marked trails. There have been complaints of sleds riding the railroad tracks in the Bergland area. There is law enforcement out and they will be ticketing anyone doing so. Riding these tracks also takes you onto private property and does not help with property owner relations in the area. Use common sense and ride where you know you’re supposed to ride. So, please, stay on the trails, have fun and stay safe!
I will keep updating the trail report as soon as conditions change so please check back soon. That’s all for now, for any additional information about the Lake Gogebic area please log onto the only official website of The Lake Gogebic Area Chamber of Commerce at www.LakeGogebicArea.com or call toll free at 888-GOGEBIC (888.464.3242). Have a great ride and a great day!
