2025/2026 Snowmobile Conditions
Current Conditions
December 25, 2025
Merry Christmas from the Lake Gogebic Area! Santa did not bring us snow for Christmas morning, but we are forecast to start getting hit with snow by the end of the weekend! Temps today and tomorrow are going to be above freezing during the day – but drop down in the evening with 10+” of snow forecasted by the New Year!
Bergland groomers reported that they will be running on a lighter grooming schedule for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so everyone can enjoy time with family and friends.
This is the Gogebic Area Grooming report as of December 23rd:
- Trail 8W to Wakefield, 8E to Ewen, 1N to White Pine, and Trail 102 were all groomed and covered. The entire section of Trail 13 was completed last night as well.
The crew got a late-afternoon start when temperatures were around 28°, which helped tremendously. By mid-evening, temperatures dropped into the 19°–21° range and trails began setting up nicely.
All things considered—and given what it took to get these trails opened—we’re in pretty good shape.
Thank you all for the continued support, and we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!
We are going to enjoy our Christmas and get ready to rock into the New Year - where you can celebrate New Years twice in two time zones on Lake Gogebic! Fireworks will be on the North Shore at AJ's in the Eastern Time Zone!

All we can say is "OH BOY" as we have been experiencing light flurries all day and daily snow is in the forecast for the next several days. Temps are going to be dropping to single digits which will be great to continue to freeze up wet spots. Gogebic Area Groomers certainly have their work cut out for them! With 3 feet of snow in a very short span and soft ground underneath, progress is being made — but slowly and safely. This wet, heavy snow has created challenges and hazards throughout our section of the trail system.
At this time, conditions remain hazardous and riding is not recommended until groomers have been able to run machines through each trail segment. Water holes are beginning to form in swampy stretches from crews packing in snow.
Groomers have reported that they are incredibly grateful for everyone’s willingness to help — but if a section hasn’t been panned, please stay off. Snow depths are inconsistent and very deep in places — even stepping out of a groomer means hip-deep snow in some spots! When additional help is needed, Gogebic Area Grooming will post it.
AJ’s Lodge and The Timbers are offering complimentary lodging for volunteers able to assist when called upon. For updates and needs, please monitor the Gogebic Area Grooming Facebook page. AJ’s Oven will open this Friday for food and continue to provide updates as they become available.
