Lake Gogebic Perch action has been fantastic! Jumbo`s by the bucket! Using crawlers in 7 to 9ft. and also deep mud 25 to 30ft. Walleye action has been good with still most action from undersize fish . Some nice sized eyes are being caught just not constant. Many are already using minnows with excellent luck! Smallmouth continue to produce as well near hard bottom areas. One cold front this week slowed things up for a bit , but more stable weather is forecast. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
August 5th 2014
Lake Gogebic report has improved. Nice Jumbo perch are hitting crawlers in 25ft. to 30ft. Also from the weeds in 8ft. to 9ft. Walleye action has been very good with the exception that many are under size. Have also seen some nice size Walleye as well but a bit more hit and miss. Some are using minnows in 25ft. to 30ft. Leeches are also working well in the same depths and working weed edges. Smallmouth have been active in hard bottom areas feeding on crayfish. Most all are catching fish! Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort
July 23rd, 2014
Lake Gogebic report has improved some. Perch,Walleye and bass are hitting leeches and crawlers in the weeds. Walleye are also hitting crawlers fished in 16 to 23ft. Warmer weather has returned with only one!!!! Heavy storm moving thru this week! Forecast for the rest of the week looks to be close to normal. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
Jult 17th, 2014
Lake Gogebic smallmouth continue to be hitting the best in hard bottom and rocky areas using crawlers. Perch action continues to be slow. Walleye are hitting leeches in 18 to 23 ft. Over all fishing has been poor with each week the bite begins to improve for a few days and another front moves thru and shuts things off again. It appears more seasonal temps are in the forecast. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
July 9th , 2014
Lake Gogebic fishing continues to be very slow. No stable weather has been part of the reason, as we see warm to cold with winds and rain ect… Smallmouth have been giving up most of the action with anglers fishing hard bottom rocky areas as they are feeding on crayfish. Perch anglers are pulling a few nice fish from 12 to 16ft. near the edges of the mud. Walleye are hitting leeches and crawlers fished near the weeds and in the mud but limited success. Good luck. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
July 3rd , 2014
Lake Gogebic fishing has been tough. Several fronts with cold temps have moved thru and kept fishing very slow. Perch action has been slow with a few fish coming from 5 to 10ft. using crawlers. Walleye bite has been best using leeches and crawlers in 7 to 12ft. near the weed edges and in the weeds. Walleye in 22 to 24ft. have been hitting live bait as well over the mud drifted or trolled. Smallmouth continue to hang near the deeper weed edges and hard bottom areas feeding on crayfish. Best of luck! Have a safe and fun holiday! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
June 26th, 2014
Lake Gogebic report remains about the same. Walleye anglers continue to catch lots of undersize walleye with better reports of some keeper size fish. Bait choices are leeches and crawlers with the minnow bite slowing down. Weed beds are up nicely, so concentrate on the 7 to 12ft. depths with the deeper weed edges producing well. Some nice smallmouth continue to be caught on both artificial and live bait near deeper edges, weed lines and some in the hard bottom rocky areas. Perch anglers are beginning to take some better catches using night crawlers in the weeds. Best of luck to all! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
June 19th , 2014
Lake Gogebic fishing has remained about the same. Fair, but many undersize walleye continue to be caught. Minnows have stayed at the top of the list with leeches and crawlers also working. Anglers are working 7 to 12ft. in the weeds and 18 to 22ft. on the deeper edges. Smallmouth spawning has ended and those fish are dispersing out from those areas also. Some fish are feeding on crayfish in those hard bottom areas while others are moving to the deeper weed lines. Perch action continues to be slow with few good reports. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
June 9th, 2014
Lake Gogebic Fishing has been a bit slower this week. Walleye are still running on the short side with a few bass still on the beds. Weed growth is greening up so expect to find some action in those areas as well. Basic summer patterns are on the way. Fathead minnows are still working well along with crawlers and leeches. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
June 6th , 2014
Lake Gogebic fishing has been fair with days of great fishing. Walleye are still hitting jig and minnows fished in 16 to 23ft. Crawlers trolled or drifted in the same areas. Crawlers and leeches are quickly picking up fished in 7 to 12 ft. over emerging weeds. Smallmouth action has been on and off the past few days with fish moving in and out from spawning areas. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic walleye action has slowed from a fantastic bite. Post spawn female walleye are not as active now and have moved to deeper break lines. Smaller males are still active and keeping anglers busy with undersize fish. Jig and minnow are still tops with crawlers and leeches also stating to work. Warm weather has moved the smallmouth in to spawn with action that is amazing! Large numbers of fish are being caught near shore using both live bait and artificials. Have a great time! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.
May 22, 2014
Lake Gogebic report has been good! Walleye are still spawning, moving in and out. Expect lots of milking males. Most are fishing 6 to 18ft. working jigs and minnows. Use fatheads and sucker minnows with the fatheads producing a few more fish. Water levels have been dropping closer to normal for this time of year. Have a great time! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
May 16th , 2014
Lake Gogebic opener is a success! Cold temps and wind kept boat activity light. Mixed reports from undersize fish to great catches of very nice sized walleye. Some great northern pike are coming in as well. Most are jig and minnow fishing from 2 to 18ft. Some crank bait activity as well. Night fishing has been productive for the larger eyes . Weather conditions are to improve over the weekend with high around 60. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
May , 8th 2014
Lake Gogebic ice is on its way out. As of noon today I can see 3 miles of open water! It may not all be clear as of now, but should be no problem for the opener. Water levels are still high so keep in mind you may have some difficulties at docks and landings. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
April 28th , 2014
Lake Gogebic ice conditions are deteriorating. Shorelines are becoming unsafe as windy conditions began to shift ice. Travel is not recommended! Will provide periodic updates on ice out conditions for all those anxious to float a boat! Gogebic`s walleye opener is May 15th! So let`s hope for seasonal temps to return for an ice out a bit sooner than last year! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
April 23rd, 2014
Lake Gogebic report is still good. Lake conditions have improved, travel has been good. Nice perch have been hitting the ice for the few anglers that are out there. Weather conditions forecast show mild days with freezing temps at night. Remember to use caution, mostly near any shoreline inlets and high traveled access points. Be safe and best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
April 15th , 2014
ake Gogebic ice conditions have improved some. Angler pressure has been very light and reports are that fishing has been slower also. Anglers have been catching a few nice perch using wigglers in 23ft. to 28ft. but just not getting large numbers of fish. Heavy slush has been reduced to 6 to 12 inches in places with colder temps allowing some atv travel. Expect 24 to 30 inches of ice. Mornings have been cold so the lake surface has been good travel, with some difficulty later in the day if things warm up. Some areas are much better than others so just check locally before heading out. We have had recent snow of about 2 to 4 inches and the weeks forecast shows cold temps, so travel should hold about the same. Use caution near shoreline inlets that may still be covered with snow. Reports are of angler activity with no guarantee of safety, so use caution, check locally and be safe. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
April 4th, 2014
Lake Gogebic fishing continues it`s up and down trend. Lake conditions began to improve and anglers reporting even limit catches of perch! But the good one day and bad the next was also included in those reports. Winter weather continues with 20 inches of new heavy wet snow today. Lake travel is still best by snowmobile. Expect slushy conditions, but lake ice is still winter ready! Best of luck. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
March 22nd , 2014
Lake Gogebic report has been snow and more snow! Perch fishing has been on again off again. Few anglers are out with good reports one day and poor reports the next. Anglers are still fishing over the mud in 22ft. to 26ft. using wigglers. Lake travel is tough with lots of snow, snowmobiles are needed and foot travel will be best using snow shoes. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
March 13th, 2014
Lake Gogebic reports are looking better. Milder temps have had a few more anglers out on the ice and the bite has improved as well! Perch anglers are using wigglers and spikes in 22ft. to 26ft with fair reports. Walleye action has been fair using suckers in 9ft. to 18ft. and also 24ft. to 28ft. Reminder on walleyes that the season closes this sat. March 15th!!! Lake travel is snowmobile only or if on foot snowshoes will be a great help. Recent mild weather did settle the snow pack some, but expect areas with deep snow and slush under it. Plenty of ice out there, just use caution not to get stuck in the less traveled areas. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
Lake Gogebic fishing is on the up side! Perch anglers have been doing very well in 22ft. to 26ft. using wigglers. Warmer temps have perked up the fish and the anglers. Walleye action has been fair with most action on sucker minnows in 24ft. to 26ft. of water. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
Jan 5th, 2014
Lake Gogebic angler pressure continues to be very light. Both perch and walleye action have been very spotty. A few excellent walleye reports in 16 to 24ft using sucker minnows under tip-ups. Most perch anglers are fishing 21 to 25ft using wigglers with only a few fish to show for it. Weather conditions remain cold with below zero temps at night and lots of snow on top with areas of slush. Snowmobile is recommended. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361 , 5th 2014
Lake Gogebic report has been slow. Very few anglers have been out. Mostly due to cold temps and snow. A few perch are still hitting wigglers in 20 to 25ft. and walleye are hitting sucker minnows in 10 to 16ft during low light conditions and also in 24 to 28ft depths. Expect lots of snow and areas of slush! Snowmobile travel is a must. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
Jan 10, 2014
Lake Gogebic deep freeze is breaking. The bitter cold temps have been keeping most anglers inside along with the fish not being very cooperative. Perch anglers have been doing the best, the few that have been out. Use wigglers in 20 to 24ft. most walleye anglers are fishing sucker minnows in 10 to 16ft. and also some in 23 to 26ft.The weekends milder temps will hopefully bring out both the fish and anglers anxious to get back out. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at bear`s Nine Pines Resort. 906-842-3361
Dec 31st, 2013
Lake Gogebic fishing has slowed a bit with bitter cold temps. Walleye are being very fickle with the cold temps. Perch anglers are still coaxing some nice size perch onto the ice using wigglers, but has slowed from what it was. Concentrate on 20 to 24ft. depths. Ice travel is good . Most slush pockets have firmed up allowing snowmobile and ATV`s to travel on top. Be cautious of some slush areas that ATV`s may cut thru the top layer, but most with chains are still doing fine. Best of luck and have a happy and safe new year! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort
Dec 21st, 2013
Lake Gogebic ice conditions are very good. Snowmobile and ATV travel are both good. Expect 8 to 12 inches of ice with 6 to 12 inches of snow on top. Some slush pockets with 4 to 6 inches of slush and water on top. ATV travel will be best with a set of chains. Walleye are hitting sucker minnows and jigging baits mostly during low light conditions in 7 to 14 feet. Some Northern Pike using the sucker minnows as well. Perch anglers are moving about in the deeper water now in 20 to 25 feet using wigglers! Enjoy the great conditions and be safe. Have a great Holiday season! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
Nov 30th, 2013
Lake Gogebic ice is on! Deer hunting report has been fair with not much hunting pressure and hunters happy with snow on the ground! The main lake is now froze over, but anglers are only fishing the bays. Good snow cover on the ice will insulate and slow the building of ice. Early ice can be very!!!! unpredictable so pleeeeeese! use caution and check locally wherever you may be heading out! These reports are no guarantee of safety, only reports of angler activity. Anglers fishing 4ft. to 8ft. are catching walleye using sucker minnows below tip-ups and also jigging rapalas mostly during low light conditions. Be safe and have fun! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine pines Resort 906-842-3361
Nov 6th , 2013
Lake Gogebic report has been great for shore anglers! Sucker minnows are working well for the walleye. Very few boats on the water. Grouse hunting was good along with fair numbers of woodcock. Most are excited and preparing for the upcoming rifle deer opener which begins Nov. 15th. Many of the backwaters have had ice on in the mornings which is a sign winter is not far off! As the season changes ice will soon begin to form on the bays and reports will be fewer. Remember first ice can be very unpredictable! Anyone fishing during this time, please check locally before heading out! Expect random updates, but regular reports will again resume during safe ice periods. Enjoy the outdoors! and be safe! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
Oct 22, 2013
Lake Gogebic report has improved! Recent snowfall in the area has reminded us that winter is not far off! Walleye have responded to the change as well. Very few anglers are out on the water, but most are shore anglers. Sucker minnows have been key fished during low light conditions. Yes, those keeper size fish are still there! Casting crank baits are also productive at this time of year. A few perch have been caught using crawlers, but are very hit and miss. Smallmouth and northern are also hitting sucker minnows as well! Grouse hunting has still been very good. Best of luck in the woods and on the water. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
Oct, 17th 3013
Lake Gogebic fishing is still about the same. Very few anglers out on the water with most giving poor reports. Shore anglers are beginning to get active using sucker minnows in the evening and after dark. Weather is finally cooling down with more seasonable temps. In the 40`s and 50`s. Grouse hunting has been very good this week with most all the leaves down now. Woodcock numbers have been great also! Bowhunters have been very quiet with little activity. Best of luck in the woods and on the water! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
Oct 9th, 2013
Lake Gogebic fishing has stayed very slow this week with very little angler activity. Many are still using some night crawlers in 20 to 25ft. and also in 8 to 11ft. for both perch and walleye. Sucker minnows are at the top of the list for the season and are catching walleye in the same areas. Fall colors are still nice with about 50% of the leaves down. Grouse hunting has been fair and bow hunting has been quiet with not many hunters out. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
Oct, 2nd 2013
Lake Gogebic weather report is to nice! Mild temps have kept the larger fish very slim this week. Very few anglers on the water with the best reports using sucker minnows. Fall colors are at about peak with approx.. 20% of the leaves fallen. Grouse hunters are happy with bird activity improving and beginning to see a fair number of young birds to flush! Bow season for whitetail deer is now open with hunters enjoying the nice fall weather! Best of luck in the woods and on the water. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
Sept , 26th 2013
Lake Gogebic fishing has been fantastic for catching numbers of walleye! Anglers are still sorting lots of undersize fish. The past few days have seen a few more nice size fish in the 20 inch class. Most are still using a variety of bait including crawlers, and leeches with sucker minnows beginning to work well. Bear season is into the third hunt, grouse season is underway, and fall colors have popped quickly! Enjoy the fall season. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
Sept 3rd , 2013
Lake Gogebic fishing has been improving! Walleye anglers drifting or trolling night crawlers in 20ft. to 26ft. are catching great numbers of fish once again! Expect to catch lots of shorts. Leeches fished in or near the weed edges from 9ft. to 12ft. are catching both walleye and smallmouth. Perch action has been best using crawlers in 6 to 8ft. in the weeds. Expect some action to to be seen using minnows at this time as the bite will be changing from the standard crawlers and leeches to fall minnow patterns. Reminder the Lake Gogebic Area Chamber of Commerce Annual fall Walleye tournament is coming quickly Sept. 6,7, and 8th. Best of luck to all! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
Lake Gogebic fishing has not changed .Anglers continue to work weeds in 6ft. to 10ft. for walleye and perch using crawlers and leeches. Deeper weed lines are producing some nice smallmouth and pike. Crawler harness rigs worked on bottom in 24ft. to 30ft. are producing a few nice catches of walleye. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic has seen another poor week of fishing.Sorry, but most all reports are not good. Some perch, walleye, bass and northern continue to come from the weeds using live bait with no regularity. Anglers have seen a few more keeper size walleye coming from 21ft. to 25ft. depths. Good Luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
Aug 1st, 2013
Lake Gogebic weather has been much nicer! So has the fishing! Perch have been hitting crawlers in 6ft. to 9ft. Smallmouth have been active in the weeds as well from 8ft to 12ft. using leeches. Walleye and Northern action has improved near these deeper weed lines using live bait and artificial. Anglers working the mud are doing best in 22ft. to 25ft. using crawlers and leeches .Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.
Lake Gogebic fishing has been slow. Perch are coming from 7 to 10ft. using crawlers. Walleye are hitting leeches and crawlers in the same depths in the weeds, also crawler harness fished in 23ft. to 27ft. are producing a few keepers. Smallmouth are fairly active in the rocky areas feeding on crayfish. Use crawlers and leeches for them as well. Weather patterns have been extreme. Wide temp. swings, wind and fronts blowing in have kept the bite very hit and miss on a daily basis! Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
July 17th , 2013
Lake Gogebic bite is a bit slower this week from the great perch action we seen last week. Anglers are still doing well from 6 to 10ft. using crawlers. Walleye are hitting crawlers and leeches in 9 to 12ft along the weed lines and drifting or trolling in the 22 to 25ft. depths. Bass and Northerns are filling in the gaps with fair action in the weedy areas of 9 to 12ft. also. It has been a very hot and calm week with fishing action showing the slow down as well. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic fishing has been fair. Walleye action continues to be best for the keeper size fish in 22 to 25ft.trolling or drifting. Although weed growth has been behind somewhat this season in some areas of the lake we are starting to see better numbers of Perch, Walleye, Northern, and Bass moving into weeds and weed edges. Work areas of 7 to 12ft. with crawlers and leeches. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
July 5th , 2013
Lake Gogebic fishing has been fair. Mayfly and fish fly hatches are underway. Anglers are catching a few more keeper size fish now than they have the past few weeks , just not as many small ones. Crawlers and leeches are now a standard for bait choices. Some better catches of perch are showing up in the shallow weeds. Walleye action has been better in 20 to 23ft. for larger fish. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
June 26th , 2013
Lake Gogebic fishing remains on the slow side. Action has been slow and still catching small walleyes. Anglers producing some better fish are trolling or drifting in 22 to 25 ft. of water. Smallmouth are still providing some good action near shore using artificial or live bait. Few nice perch being caught on crawlers but no definite pattern yet..Summer patterns are slow to come this season. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
Lake Gogebic fishing has been tough. Anglers on and off are catching large numbers of undersize fish making it very frustrating for most. Weather and wind direction continues to change constantly causing the on and off again bite. Fish are still hitting crawlers, leeches and minnows in 8 to 14ft. Trolling and drifting in 20 to 23ft. has been producing a few more keeper size fish. Bass are on and off as well near the shorelines due to weather. Perch have been good size mostly over the mud in over 20ft, but are also very inconsistent. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
June 12th, 2013
Lake Gogebic weather is more seasonal for June and the fishing is slowly improving. Fair at best with walleye beginning to hit crawlers and leeches over the minnows as far as bait. Weed edges are coming up nicely. Action in the 9 to 12 ft.depths near structure and 22 to 26ft depths over mud are producing some larger keeper fish. Many are still catching a lot of undersize Walleye. Smallmouth are slowly improving and moving in towards shore with the warmer temps. Use crank baits, spinners or twister tails near shore. Northern pike have continued to feed and provided action for most during the slow times, hitting nearly anything, but large minnows are best. Perch action remains very scattered with no definite pattern for now, some nice fish have been caught but hit and miss. Best of Luck!! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
June 5th , 2013
Lake Gogebic`s bite has been slower this week. Cold temps, rain, and thunder storms have kept things quiet on the fish end of the line. Walleye are still hitting sucker minnows, leeches and crawlers fished from 11 to 17ft. Smallmouth bass had began to move shallow for the spawn and now are pushed back to 14 to 20 ft. due to cold temps. Northen pike continue to be aggressive and providing some added action on sucker minnows and spinner baits. Good Luck! Think summer! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
May 30th , 2013
Lake Gogebic action has slowed up some as post spawn walleye seem to be less aggressive and short biters. Small males are still active! Jig and minnow or leeches are best. Smallmouth are beginning to show some activity with the warmer temps and beginning to move shallow. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
May 22nd, 2013
Lake Gogebic fishing has been good. Shore anglers and boat anglers are both doing well. We have had on and off days with the weather and the bite also. Warm nice days the bite slowed, however a number of fronts with rain quickly heated things up again! Most catches are males with milk yet and a fair number of females still full of spawn! Jig and minnow are still on top of the list with trolling crank baits, crawlers and leeches also in the mix. Anglers are catching fish in a variety of places from shorelines to deep mudflats drifting and trolling.Good luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine pines Resort 906-842-3361
Lake Gogebic opener was great! Anglers battled high winds most of the day but had sunshine and mild temps. Most fished jigs and minnows or trolled crank baits near shore with good success. Limits of fish 16 to 21 inches was common, and most were milkers. Others drifted and trolled the main lake reporting success as well even some on crawlers. Anglers can expect good fishing and continued nice weather for the weekend. Be safe and good luck. Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic opener is on wed. May 15th. Main lake is clear of ice with some ice hanging up in several bays. Anglers may plan on some difficulty at several landings as wind has pushed some ice chunks into shore and may change with wind direction. Also high water levels has many landings with docks put on hold until water levels go down some. Some landings may require use of hip boots to unload your boat without a dock in place. Be cautious on the water for floating debris and ice chunks if wind direction bumps them loose. Please check locally at what ever area of the lake you plan to launch at. Best of luck! Lake Gogebic update. Despite snow once again last night the northwest winds completed the job of clearing ice off the lake! A slow warm up is forecast with opening day weather in the 60`s. See you then! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361
Lake Gogebic update. Anxious anglers will be happy to see current conditions as of 5pm Fri. 5-10-13 there is about 1 mile of open water at the inlet and most shorelines are free. Colder temps predicted for the weekend with warmer weather returning by mon.- tue. 20 to 30 mile per hour wind gusts are possible sat. evening which will help. Remember lake ice will shift around, so current open areas may change by the day! Hope to have a more favorable report for you before the opener on wed. Think spring!!!

Lake Gogebic has a lot of ice on it yet, but many shorelines are becoming hard to access. Anglers over the weekend had great travel and nice weather along with some nice perch. The main lake ice had two layers with a hollow pocket in between due to all the slush we had this winter. The top layer has softened which will cause travel to be difficult. Travel on the ice is NOT recommended!!!! Time to think spring! Lets hope weather conditions will get the ice off before the May 15th opener! Due to the amount of ice still on Lake Gogebic, we are CANCELLING the LGACC sponsored Spring Walleye Tournament scheduled for May 18 and 19. The tournament will not be rescheduled and all entry checks already received will be returned.
It was a very hard decision to make as we look forward to the tournament and having you visit our beautiful area!

Lake Gogebic fishing was slower over the weekend, heavy winter weather was a factor and angler activity has been slow since. Current ice conditions are good with more wet slushy snow on top. Expect approx. 3 to 6 inches of slush as the snow has settled down quickly. Use caution near snow covered shorelines that may be unsafe! Anglers are using both snowmobile and atv`s. Surface and ice conditions can change quickly, weekend forecast is for a warm up to 50 plus temps which can change travel conditions fast! Reports are on angler activity and are not a guarantee of ice safety. Please use caution, check locally, and be safe! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361April 17th , 2013

Lake Gogebic report has not changed. Perch action has been good using wigglers over the mud from 20 to 30ft. Lake conditions and travel are good as well, expect 12 to 14 inches of ice with a few inches of slush on top. More snow is in the forecast for the weekend, but do not expect it to effect travel. Reminder of safety at this time of year!! Caution near shorelines and any inlets to the lake as ice conditions can change quickly. Please check locally before going out. These reports are of local activity and do not guarantee safety. Best of luck and enjoy ! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic perch fishing continues to be very good! A repeat of depths in 20 to 23ft. are producing good numbers but smaller size. Depths of 26 to 30ft are producing less fish but more jumbo`s. Ice conditions are great, with recent rain that settled the surface layer down. Expect 12 to 14 inches of ice with a few inches of snow and slush on top. Reminder!!! It is April and ice conditions can change quickly, even over night, so please check locally before heading out and be SAFE! Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic perch action has fired up! Nice catches have been coming in with good reports from anglers enjoying the good ice conditions in April! Action has been best in 20ft to 22ft on wigglers with some of the larger fish hitting in 26ft to 30ft but not as many. Lake conditions have improved with travel being best early in the day even with atv`s, but later in the day as things warm up wheeled travel may be difficult. Expect snow cover with a crust on top with areas that have 6 to 8 inches of slush before hitting the main ice. Snow and slush has settled down nicely in the past week. Forecast is for good temps with lows in the teens or twenties and highs 35 to 40 during the day. Enjoy this great ice fishing time of year! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic snow conditions are great!!! Ice conditions are good, with the well traveled areas being best. Expect slush and deep snow in the less traveled areas. Snowmobile is best and for foot travel snowshoes are recommended. Perch action has been fair with few anglers on the ice. Use wigglers, spikes or small minnows near bottom in 22ft to 27ft depths for the best results. Enjoy the great spring weather on the ice! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361 Reminder 2012 fishing Lic. Expire March 31st 2013.

Lake Gogebic conditions remain good, with normal winter weather continuing. Fresh snow and cold temps at night are providing a normal ice fishing season. You can still expect slush in many areas and snowmobile or foot travel are best. Walleye season comes to an end March 15th this Friday!!! We have seen some nice fish still coming in using sucker minnows in the 24 to 26ft range. Perch anglers will have the big lake to themselves, after a busy weekend the angler activity this week has slowed to a crawl. The few anglers out have seen some good action in a wide range from the 20 to 26ft . Continue to fish wigglers near bottom over the mud flats. Best of luck! Lake Gogebic report has changed very little. Fishing has still been on the slow side. Expect slush in most areas off the well traveled locations, a snowmobile is recommended. Some of the larger walleye have still been coming from reports in the 24 to 28ft. range using sucker minnows and jigging rapalas or spoons. A few more fish reported in the 9 to 12ft. range during low light conditions, but many are running small. Perch action has been more active on the vexilar than on the hook! Some nice fish are still being taken, however locating active fish has been key. Good locations are still in the 20 to 22ft range and also in the 24 to 27ft areas using wigglers. Sorry for the repeat, but March is here and the perch bite should improve in the near future.Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361

Lake Gogebic fishing has been a bit slower and angler activity as well. Walleye action has been slow with a few nice fish still reported coming from deeper water in the 24 to 27ft range. Perch anglers are still locating good numbers of fish in the 22ft. range however coaxing them to bite has been a struggle for some. A few anglers are locating active fish and connecting with some nice jumbos , so keep moving! Lake conditions continue to add more snow, as a result expect slush in most of the un traveled areas of the lake beneath the snow! Good Luck! Lake Gogebic travel conditions are good, but snowmobile is recommended. Expect some areas with slush to deal with on top of 18 to 20 inches of ice on average. Some real nice walleye have come from the 20 to 24ft range but no big numbers. Perch action had slowed over the weekend with a front moving thru causing a good number of fish being marked or raised but not cooperative to bite! Today is a fine sunny winter day so we hope that bite will improve. Anglers are not having a problem locating fish mostly in the 20 to 22ft and 24 to 26ft range. Best of luck!
