Snowmobile Trails Open for the 2026-27 Season

December 1 is opening day for Michigan Upper Peninsula snowmobile trails, snow permitting. The Lake Gogebic area sits on one of the few hubs in the Midwest with seven trails running in and out, connected to over 3,000 miles of Michigan trail, and the biggest lake in the UP to ride. Gogebic Area Grooming maintains over 150 miles of trail here and posts current conditions on its Facebook page; check there before you ride, since early-season grooming depends on the snow. Trail permits are required on Michigan trails.
